Publishing rules
Updated on 26 October 2026.
WowAddons hosts addons that their authors publish themselves, made with an AI or by hand. Publishing one means accepting these rules.
What you publish
- Only what you made, or what its author lets you publish. An addon another site hosts (its TOC names CurseForge, Wago or WoWInterface) is refused: players install it from there.
- Free, and readable. As Blizzard's add-on policy asks: no paid version, no hidden or obfuscated code, no advertising, no request for donations inside the game, nothing beyond the game's T rating, nothing that harms realms or other players, nothing against the World of Warcraft Terms of Use.
- Addon files only: Lua, XML, TOC, images, sounds, fonts and text, in one folder, 20 MB at most. Programs and scripts for your computer are refused.
What stays yours
Your addon stays yours. By publishing it, you let WowAddons host it and give it, free, to anyone who installs it. You can remove it from its page at any time; players who installed it keep their copy.
What we do
We read every report. An addon that breaks these rules, or that a rights holder shows is theirs, is removed, and an account that keeps breaking them is closed. WowAddons checks what an archive holds, not what its code does: install addons from authors you trust.
